GOVERNMENT OF ZIMBABWE AND AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT BANK SIGN USD 1.8M ZIMFUND GRANT TO IMPROVE SEWERAGE INFRASTRUCTURE IN CHITUNGWIZA

The Government of Zimbabwe and the African Development Bank (AfDB), on Friday 11 June 2021 signed a USD1.8 million ZimFund grant which will go towards the procurement of materials for the rehabilitation, repair, maintenance and improvements of sewerage systems infrastructure in Chitungwiza municipality. 

The grant, which is funded from the Zimbabwe Multi-Donor Trust Fund (ZimFund) earnings and interests, is aimed at addressing the municipality’s perennial outfall and trunk sewer hotspots.

The materials will include sewer pipes & fittings, machinery, PPEs, sewer rodding & jetting equipment, GIS hardware & software, service vehicles, and solid shredder, among others.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, the Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Hon. Professor Mthuli Ncube hailed the Bank for its continued support towards he country's most critical sectors such as water & sanitation and energy.
